Premiere Date: May 12-15, 2016 at the Center for Puppetry Art's Xperimental Puppetry Theatre
Produced by SCAD Atlanta's Stop Motion Club, 'Princess Cottongrass' is a stop-motion down-shoot animated film based on a Swedish folk story about a young princess trying to find her way home, and the elk who aided her in her quest.
I joined the Cottongrass team in January 2015, during Pre-Production, when I attended my first Stop Motion Club meeting. Throughout Pre-Production, I helped out developing mood-boards for different scenes and characters, as well as developing what would eventually be the final character designs for the sinister elf characters.
As production moved forward, I got involved in organizing and co-directing the project, booking out time tables of who was shooting what and when, as well as extensive fabrication of characters and backgrounds, each one of which was laid out in Adobe Illustrator and printed with a Silhouette Cameo Wireless Cutting Machine. I was able to help animate as well, having the incredible opportunity to animate Leap the elk's quadruped walk cycle towards the beginning of the film!
